My name is Rae Ashley Veloso. I usually go by Ashley. I am now a senior at Mater Dei High School. This is my third year as varsity. During my freshman year I played on JV and started as point guard. I average 8 points, 5 assist and 1 steal per game.I lead the JV team and went 25-1 and won the Trinity league with an 8-0 record. After that, I was pulled up to varsity sophomore year. Currently, I am on varsity and co-captain on the team. I don't get much playing time now as because most of my teammates are top Division 1 players and bigger than me. But I practice with them everyday, and I feel like I am improving even more because of them. I am not intimidated by anybody. I am used to playing really good teams and talented players. Even though I don't get as much playing time, when I am put into the game I go my hardest. I am very good in transition and see the floor well and help my teammates get better shots. I'm also a very good listener. I wouldn't transfer schools to look for playing time because it is a once in a lifetime chance to be able to play with best athletes, like my teammate Andee Velasco a senior, one of the top point guard in Orange County and Katie Lou Samuelson also a senior who plays the USA team and committed to UCONN, and just named Gatorade player of the year. How great is that to practice and be able to play with this girls everyday. We are the #1 team in the state of California, and #1 team in the country right now. I am a point guard and I sometimes play as a shooting guard. I can handle the ball very well with both hands and get the ball to my teammates in transition. I play aggressively and not individually. I am a team player. After high school, I plan to major in nursing. Hopefully I could get a little athletic scholarship to help my parents with the tuition.
