I started playing basketball when I was just a kid. My dad knew that I had a passion for basketball as well as soccer. He started putting me on co-ed teams so I began fighting for playing time. I was always the only girl on the team so I had to put in extra work to get the position that I wanted. As good as I was in sports, I always had good grades, received honor roll and student of the month.
When I was about 12 years old, I made a huge decision which was focusing on one sport to get better and succeed in it. It took me a while to choose but every time I was on the basketball court, I had the energy and confidence to strive to be a better player and leader for my team. Soccer was fun while it lasted but I knew that I had to play a sport to get better and have fun at the same time. Basketball was a sport that I wanted to get far with in life and work harder as I grow. In the coming years, I want to grow as a leader and set examples for my team to incoming players to emulate.
