Personal Statement

My philosopy has always been you have to work hard for what you want.  I want to go to college and I want to play basketball in college.  I work hard every single day to make sure those dreams come true, academically and athletically   I always strive to be the very best I can be and am not afraid to put in the work.  I have been told by my teachers that I am the hardest worker they have (since grade school I have been told this).

Athletically I am strong, a hard worker and relentless.  I absolutely love when my coach has me defend the best player because it makes me work so hard and really challenges me.  I feel my basketball IQ has really come around heading into my junior year.  Offensively I love to shoot 3's and once the defense comes out on me, blow past them and take it to the hoop.  I also pride myself in being the biggest cheerleader on my team.  I want everyone to do good.  Win as a team, lose as a team.

Several times throughout grade school, middle school and high school I have gotten  character awards, I guess for being a good classmate.  I am nice and kind to everyone, I treat people the way I want to be treated, with respect.    That is just who I am.

In college I want to major in Sport Management or Exercise Science.

  • Kelsey Koza, is a 5'5 128lb 2022 prospect from our Fall 2018 DAL camp. College coaches on camp staff identified Kelsey as having scholarship potential. Kelsey has a great wingspan that gives the player the potential to be a lock down defender and can be even more effective with active hands/feet. Additionally, the prospect appears to have very good size for position when used properly remains advantageous on both sides of the ball. The talented passer, distributes the ball well seeing the floor and anticipating when and where teammates will be open creating easy buckets. In terms of ball handling, the prospect showed a great handle and is on the way to being a primary ball handler. The prospect's Basketball IQ definitely stood out at camp and proved to be really good. Through continued emphasis on making the right play through watching/learning the game, it can be a big advantage in recruiting. A big part of IQ is shot selection. Kelsey does a great job of understanding when there is enough time and space to shoot the ball and will continue to develop this knowledge by watching how this is done at various college levels. Making the extra pass and taking only open in-rhythm shots proved to be a reliable asset for the prospect. The prospect was able to consistently knock down shots during camp showing to be a reliable asset. Shooting will continue to develop with form shooting and made game speed repetitions. We recommend making at least 500 game speed shots a day off the screen(curl/fades), off the bounce, spot shooting, etc. The talent impressed finishing around the rim through contact and in traffic. With continued work finishing through traffic with either hand, adding even more finishing moves, the player will continue to be a grave threat around the basket. The talented player has very good athletic ability for size and age. ScoutsFocus would like to see continued development in speed/agility and vertical development. Jump rope drills are great full body conditioning drill we highly recommend if not ready for a rigorous weight-training program. The prospect is very strong for their age. The college game is an entirely different beast so continued strength development is crucial to prepare going against 23-24 year-olds. Combined with the player's solid frame that should to continue to build year around, the player will be physically ready to play at the next level. The talent showed a very good motor (highly coveted skill by college coaches) that remained mostly active on possessions and from what we saw, the player showed physical and mental toughness throughout camp. The player showed a great understanding and effort on the defensive side of the ball and should continue to focus on individual and team defensive concepts emphasized at camp. Kelsey has scholarship potential with continued hard work and development both in the classroom and on the hardwood. Can play the 1; 2; 3. AAU Team: NoCo Hoops.
