I have learned a lot through the many years I have played basketball. I have learned that sports are very important to me and shaped me as a person. On my teams, I have been known as a leader and a peer coach who helps players increase their skill level. People have seen me as a caring and unselfish person who has a natural ability for the sport. But I have had to do a lot of work to get where I am today. Sports have helped me learn to balance things and become a more responsible person. Both on and off the court I aspire to be a better version of myself and I work my hardest to make sure I'm respectful and responsible at all times. As a teammate, I do my best to include everyone at all times and make sure I help others when I can, but at the same time do everything I can to help myself increase my skill. I am a very coachable athlete who consistently takes a coach's advice to improve my game. Many other athletes have these characteristics, but what makes me different is that I do these things on and off the court, whether it's with my family, teachers, or some friends I try to improve any part of myself when I can. In school, I try my hardest to keep my grades up. I work with my teachers when my grades are down and I learn to understand the subjects that I struggle with. In elementary school and middle school, I didn't struggle, it was easy for me to understand things, but in high school, now that it's more independent I have a harder time, but this has only pushed me to work harder and improve myself in and out of class. Without good grades, I wouldn't be able to play, and I knew that 2 hours after school, when I only had to worry about improving my game, was a great outlet. So I couldn't let my grades drop because without that time I know I would be stressed. I'm a player who works hard for myself and others, I will give my all for myself, and accomplish my dreams of playing in college.
