At the age of 5 I began playing basketball. I participated in our towns mini-hoop program and fell in love with the sport. Mini-hoops progressed to town recreational basketball, to my schools travel team and then on to AAU clubs and finally high school basketball. The sport of basketball has became my passion. I am competitive in nature and have utilized this trait as a positive impact on my success on and off the court. I look at my own personal successes and failures and ask myself, "how can I improve?" "how can I take this to the next level?" "why did I not perform the way I had expected myself to perform and how can I improve on this?" I view competing with others important to my own personal successes. I do not look at others with jealousy or envy. I look at this as an opportunity to push myself, to make myself better, to take myself to new limits. I am a very coachable athlete. I value critisism and the time a coach spends with me. My teammates are invaluable and an important part of a teams success. Furthering my academics beyond high school is my top priority. I foresee a successful life for myself and my academic choices are key to that success. Being able to continue playing basketball on my academic journey is the bonus. I enjoy being around others and making people laugh. I involve myself in extracurricular activities where I feel I am making an impact. I do this through community service work or by participating in fundraisers for causes that are important to me or someone else I care about. My success in life is important, but the impact I have made in someone else's life makes me feel complete.
