Abrianna Marshall '23 Recruiting Profile

Having started playing basketball when I was six years old, basketball has always been a passion of mine. Once I began playing the sport, I was never able to lose interest in it. Whenever I watched basketball as a child, I was fascinated by the smooth movements the players made when carrying the ball. I always wished I could do the same. I have gained a better understanding of how determined and committed I can be through playing basketball. Throughout my basketball career, I have been told a variety of things about myself, such as that I am weak and that I should take it easy because I am a girl; however, I did not allow those remarks to affect my performance. My approach was to play harder instead. Aside from my caring and enthusiastic nature, I am also open to new challenges and ideas, which would make me an excellent team member. My motivation does not come from applause, but from the team. As a high school student and as a student in college, I wish to be remembered as a person who never gave up, did their best, and worked hard to accomplish their goals. It is the moment you give up, when you allow someone else to win, as Kobe Bryant once declared.
