Hello Coach,
My name is Shelbee Clark and I am a rising junior at Edgewood Junior Senior High School in Merritt Island, Florida. I have played basketball since seventh grade and have grown to love it. One of my personal goals is to take my athletic and academic abilities to the next level.
In addition to my three varsity letters, I was captain of our junior varsity team in 8th and 9th grade and I have been a starter every year that I’ve played for both junior varsity and varsity. I was number 11 out of about 50 girls in my school district for scoring, and number 1 for 3 pointers (according to Max Preps) in 10th grade. Overall for 9th and 10th grade, I had a total of 247 points: for my freshman year I had 136 points, and having my sophomore year be my first full year on varsity, I scored 111 points. This led me to be the offensive MVP of my team for 4 out of the 5 years I’ve played and defensive MVP for one of those years. I train year-round for basketball through club teams, camps, a personal trainer and training sessions at my local community center. Additionally, I play club lacrosse and I will be going into my 4th year of high school varsity lacrosse, 3 of those years we have advanced to districts. This season our team went 14-2 and made it to the district championship.
Off the court and the field, I am enrolled in honors and AP classes and I maintain a 3.4 GPA, on top of that I am enrolled at Eastern Florida State College where I take dual enrollment classes and have made the deans list. Academics have always been important to me and will remain important as I make my way through college. Outside of school, I enjoy helping others through volunteer work. I have been in classrooms decorating, babysitting, and cleaning up schools during the summer. In addition I have worked in a classroom of pre-K students every morning before school to aid in an easier classroom environment for both the teacher and the kids. Having done so much volunteer work since I was six years old, I was recently named youth volunteer of the year for my school district.
I intend to pursue a career in elementary education and would love to hear about the programs at your school. I am very interested to learn about your college, coaching approach, teams, coaching staff, and your recruiting process. I hope to hear from you soon to learn more.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Shelbee Clark
