I grew up in the type of family that celebrates holidays by getting up early and running a local 5k. I’m going to be honest, I hated running them when I was younger. But as I got older, and more involved in sports, I became more and more thankful that my parents stressed the importance of health and fitness. I grew up playing soccer and thought that it was going to be my sport. But then my sister started playing basketball, and I was at every game and almost every practice. I began training and my love for the sport deepened further. I was always the tallest person on my team in middle school, so I learned the ins and outs underneath the basket. When I got to high school and began playing AAU, I quickly realized that I wouldn’t be playing there at the collegiate level. I had to learn the ins and outs of yet another position, which I think gives me a unique perspective on the game because I know what it’s like to play all over the floor. My coaches have called me a “wildcard” in the sense that I am very versatile on the court. I pride myself in being a student of the game by studying film, and by being a coachable player.
