Basketball is in my soul. I start and end each day with a ball in my hand. I am the girl waiting for the gym to be unlocked in the dark hours of the morning, and if no one shows quickly enough, I hit the outdoor courts. I strive to be better, faster, stronger, and smarter every day. I respect my coaches and listen to them intently. My goal is to play college ball with women who are just as passionate about the game. I began playing on varsity at the end of my seventh grade year. My eighth grade year, I played on both middle school (as point guard) and varsity (as shooting guard) teams. I became a starter on varsity pre-season 9th grade year. I went on to play SG with BlueStar Orlando 2025 in the summer of 2022. I kept my summer busy, not only with travel ball, but also with Elite/Training Camps at FSU, UF, FAU, and team camps, along with PGC Camps (Playmaker, Scoring College and Point Guard College). School Season 22-23, I was a starting SG for my high school team at Windermere Preparatory school and our team went on to be District Runner-up with continued play in regionals. In 2024, we were District Champions.
A few personal things about me: outside of basketball, I enjoy outdoor activities such as art, fishing, hiking and nature photography. I love to cook and I can prepare some pretty tasty dishes. I play flute, guitar, and just enough piano to be dangerous. I love 70’s and 80's music and I am an old soul when it comes to music nostalgia.
For Summer 2024, I am a starting SG with Orlando Basketball Club 2025. I look forward to a busy camp season and to also continue to work on individual skills training one on one with Coach Sharrod Williams. What makes me different, first of all, is my level respect for my coaches and my teammates. I have won multiple awards for being the most coachable player. My passion for the sport drives me to seek every opportunity to get better at my game and I am not nearly finished yet. I plan to continue to grow and have a mantra of continual improvement. I would love to have basketball in my life after college, but I am not sure if it will be teaching, coaching, recruiting, scouting, playing, or all of the above. I believe that players and coaches must bond and all get to know and respect each other in order to be a strong team.
Last summer, I won the Coach’s free throw award at Nike High Intensity Camp at Warner University from WBB Head Coach Nikki Jessee. After my time at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida this summer, Coach Huey Brooks summed up my evaluation, “ Showed confidence when handling the ball. Great shooter with great range. Great job looking for open teammates. Becoming an effective rebounder at guard position. Great energy on defense. Vocal on defense. Ability to shine on both ends of the floor. Excellent on intangibles: attitude, work ethic, team, orientation, coachability.”
Hunter Keith of PrepGirlsHoops published the following commentary from the 2024 Florida Association of Basketball Coaches Showcase, “Hallie Stokes was one of the best shooters at the FABC showcase. As one coach put it, Stokes can shoot the cover off of the ball. She plays well with her teammates and with two dominant bigs down low she gets in great position to score and delivers.”
For my Senior school year (24-25) I will be playing for the Royals at The First Academy in Orlando. I have already been playing and bonding with the team. I love my new coaches and I look forward to the year ahead.
