I was a 205 pound, 5’7”, 8th grader, and I didn’t like it. I didn’t want to be the fat unathletic kid. So I made the decision to put the work in and better myself. I approached my school about starting a wrestling program as I knew out of all the sports, that was the one where if you worked hard, you could be find success. I wrested first 2 years before I finally won my first match. I’m not afraid to put in the work. As a 3-sport athlete (football, wrestling, and lacrosse) I know what it means to work at something to better yourself. I know I would be a better wrestler now if that is the only sport I did, but I have enjoyed the team aspect of the other sports and I feel that I could and have made a difference with my teammates as someone they could look up to.
