I fell in love with the game of basketball the day I went to see the WNBA Phoenix Mercury play. I saw the way the team moved as a whole and worked with one another in such a positive way. I saw the skills they had and thought it would be difficult to learn, but I was determined to try.
3 years passed and I became a freshman in high school. I had all the moves down and I knew just when to do them . Yet, there was one thing I lacked. That thing was confidence . Throughout all my years of playing basketball, I’ve always been the team player. I cheer on my team and make sure they keep their heads up. I realized I hadn’t been doing the same thing for myself.
During the middle of freshman year, I began to play on a boys and girls club team . With that team, I found the match within me and I ignited it . Ever since then, my passion for basketball has grown into something even more . Basketball is one thing I will never give up on.
