Personal Statement

Hello coaches and recruiters!  My name is Hannah Heinen, and I am a high school senior at Lake Oconee Academy.  At my school, I have all A’s and play varsity basketball, soccer, and plan to play varsity tennis this year. I also play travel basketball and attend numerous high-level basketball camps in the off season. My high school basketball team won the state championship for the first time in school history last season, and we are looking for a repeat this year!

Whether I am in the classroom or on the court/field, I show exceptional energy and leadership by giving 110 percent effort in all that I do.  Many of my best traits I possess include putting others before myself, leading others in the right direction, and showing kindness to my fellow peers, teammates, and mentors. I balance this with mental and physical toughness when it is time to compete.

It has been a lifelong dream of mine to play basketball in college.  Ever since I touched a basketball in kindergarten, I have fallen in love with the sport.  For as long as I can remember, I have loved watching basketball and playing one on one with my dad.  I always push myself to seek out opportunities to play against older competition, even if they are bigger and stronger than me.  One of my favorite things to do is watch college teams play. I watch the players, off-ball play, the bench personnel, and the coaches so that I can learn and grow as a complete player.

In a college, I am looking for a good fit academically and athletically.  I am currently ranked 2nd in my school regarding GPA, and I enjoy the challenge of taking a rigorous course load to complement my highly motivated  athletic mentality.   I hope to attend a college that challenges me on and off the court. I know that playing basketball in college requires a tremendous amount of energy and determination.  I am willing to do whatever it takes to help my team achieve excellence.

Thank you for your time!

Hannah Heinen
