Jayla Cook '22 Recruiting Profile

Hello, My name is Jayla Cook.    

I started playing basketball very young,  as the only girl on a church coed league.  I fell in love with the game at that time!   I truly love the game!    My dream is and has always been to play basketball at the collegiate level.   I aspire to obtain my Bachelor's Degree while having the pleasure of playing basketball at the next level.   My academics is just as important as my athletics.  I maintain a high GPA and also  challenge myself by taking AP and college courses in the Dual Enrollment Program.   I want to attend a college to continue that challenge in the classroom as well as on the court.

 I am quick, have strong ball handling skills and a high basketball IQ.  I am an aggressive, high motor player who dominates the game despite being "undersized".   My mom always say "use what the good Lord has given you".   I try to live by those words.  Individually pushing my body physically but more importantly,  having that mental toughness needed to reach my goal.  I strive continuously to learn and grow and be a sponge for whatever the Coach need or want  for the success of the team. 

The game of basketball has also taught me the meaning of teamwork, which has been reinforced in different aspects of my life on and off the court.   The traits needed for good teamwork has helped instilled in me the value of communication, being respectful and supportive to others.      Not only am I supportive, I bring leadership and energy to the team.   I help put my teammates in the right place, at the right time to bring the right results!!!  I lift the energy up and make sure everyone knows the game isn’t over, until the game is truly over!!
