Dear coaches,
I'm Alissa Pacarro from Honolulu, Hawai`i. I'm currently at St. Francis High School as a sophomore, 16 years old. I am 5'5'' and my weight is 125. I make up for my height with my speed with conditioning. I also box out, and out jump/rebound girls that are taller than me. I've been playing basketball since I was 5 years old and when I'm not in season, I'm playing outside leagues to stay in shape and keep on top of my game. I believe that I can provide a team with dedication. I am dedicated 100 percent to basketball by watching college basketball, preparing for each practice and each game by studying my opponents so I know how to defend them and attack their weakness. Defense is a big aspect to my personal game, I love playing defense and in my mind, my man will not score on me. I am first in the gym, stretched, shooting around, and last after practice, working on free throws or moves. At home, I'm at the park across from my house working on other little things that I need to improve on. "the practice after the practice".
From my basketball experience that I obtained so far, I recognize how important team work is, and positive motivation plays into this sport and I do offer that to every team I play for. It truly is my dream to continue playing basketball after high school, and I motivate myself to do so. Another thing that I offer to a team is being well rounded on the court. I know how to play every position on the court from guard, to shooting guard, to forward, to center. My coach was using me as an alternate when needed in all positions, but I mainly played as a starting guard.
My passion is abundant in this sport. I never had anything in my life I was more passionate about. I'm looking at colleges in the Northwest, and I was really looking into Oregon. I'm actually open anywhere to all my options. I'm looking into bigger schools because I like the larger atmosphere, but I can also adjust to smaller schools. I think what would fit my athletic ability the best, being realistic would be division two schools, NAIA, or division three schools, but again I am open to all my options. My family has financial “need”.
I haven't really decided what major I desire to pursue. My goals are to continue playing basketball after my high school career at any level. To me it doesn't matter where I go or what level I'm at I'll work to my full potential. As long as I'm playing ball in a good environment that I enjoy, I'll be happy.
