I am who I am today because of my family, my coaches, and my teammates. I work had to achieve my goals. I am a leader. I give it my all. The game of basketball has helped me with who I am today as well. Basketball has taught me leadership, responsibility, how to work hard, failure, repetition, dedication, I have learned to work together with everyone. I am grateful that I have been fortunate enough to have grown up with the game.
I know basketball has always inspired me, I love the game and want to always do my best. I know that unless I perform well in the classroom first that I would only be getting half the success that I am striving for. Why settle for half when you could get double? That is why I have big goals not just in basketball, but in my academics.
There was a time in my life when I thought I would not be the same person, or basketball player due to an accident that I was in. Basketball made me determined to get better and to become a better player and person. It took time and I learned a lot of patience. Without that experience I would have continued to play the game but my love for the game might not have been as deep. Having that experience made me realize that I should never take for granted what I am blessed with. Basketball has also taught me that you will fail some point along your journey, but it is your choice how you respond to that failure. You can choose to quit or you can choose to learn and grow.
