Mattie Olson '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Mattie Olson.  For as long as I can remember I have loved the game of basketball.  I love working together in a team setting trying to reach a common goal.  Having an opportunity to play college basketball, hopefully at the division one level, is a top goal of mine.  I enjoy being a leader and an example to those around me on and off the court. My primary position is point guard which allows me to make the players around me better.  My strengths as a player definitely include my ball handling skills, and my ability to see and utilize the entire court. I am a sprinter in track and I have explosive speed off the dribble that enables me to beat my player to the basket in a one on one situation. I have the ability to create my own shots and have just come off my junior high school season earning a varsity starting position and averaging 20.6 points per game.  I am a competitive player and like to win.   On and off the court I am a happy person who likes to have fun.  I am as committed to my academics as I am to basketball. I realize that without a good academic performance my basketball performance doesn't matter, and could not exist.  I enjoy being in the classroom and learning, and also appreciate the life lessons that the game of basketball has taught and continues to teach me.  If given the opportunity I believe that I could be a leader and contributor to your college basketball team.
