My name is Mariangely Velez, and I am very interested in playing basketball in college. I am a 5'9 power forward, that has both experience playing center, as well as point. I am very committed as I first started playing basketball in Second grade and have been playing for almost 10 years. I first started playing when I moved to my hometown of Addison and joined a local program. From here I noticed I had a strong connection with the sport as I couldn't get enough of it. Which led to when I joined my first AAU team in fifth grade. I continued to play all throughout middle school and high school, till today. During my first year of High School I was moved up and allowed to play on the Sophomore team. Then following the next year as a Varsity Athlete, as I am now. During my sophomore year on Varsity, I was the only one to receive All Conference for Addison Trail Girls Basketball. This accomplishment only led me to want more from myself, and get more involved with my personal development. During the times of covid-19 I dedicated myself day in and day out to practice in on my skills on my own time, and I am proud to say I did achieve results! I would like to continue to see where my limits take me, and would like to play in college. It would give me another drive to keep going in my life, and something to look forward to and strive for. Playing in college has been my dream since I was little, and I've put in the work needed to get there, now all that's left is the finishing touches and getting accepted for both my sports and my academics. Although making a college team is the end of this journey and my goal, a new adventure begins with new goals and new motivation. Starting college ball and becoming the best that I can be on a whole new level, collegially of course.
