Personal Statement

I've been playing basketball since fourth grade and I've loved putting the work into it. I enjoy working out and evolving my game, because it taught me true hard work and how to face adversity. How to rise to a challenge and how to build chemistry with players that you’ve never played with before and how to communicate with your teammates and adults. I have developed a work ethic like no other and not just in the gym but in the classroom. Basketball has taught a lot of life skills and life lessons, I have come so far and I'm grateful for that, and I'm grateful for my parents who have always pushed me. From this I feel that I standout from athletes because after I went down to state for the three-point showdown, my Spanish teacher stopped me and told me how proud she was of me, but she told me what I had achieved was big. When she meant big she meant being a pioneer for young Hispanic girls who have dreams on playing basketball, but aren't able too. She put into perspective of how there’s not many Hispanic basketball players, but I change that by taking my talents to not only help Hispanic children, but help children all over the world to play.

From this I feel that I standout from other athletes because of my work ethic, having the knowledge and love for the game and I always look to do the little things whether it be my body language, hustling, communicating, how I articulate things to my teammates so they don't feel discouraged. I always make it a habit that I play my best, because when I give my best effort I'm not only making myself better but I'm making my teammates better.

I would like to play for a school that will be a good fit, and push me on the court to bring the best out of myself, with coaches and teammates that will support and help develop my skills. But as a student athlete and knowing I'm not going to play basketball forever, I would like a school that offers my major which is marine biology and my minor art and design. I would like a school that will push me academically, that will help prepare me after college. I want to feel confident after college with my major knowing that I received the tools and experience that will have me become successful with my major.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
