My name is Elizabeth Via. Everyone calls me Ela. I have been playing Basketball since the 2nd grade. I have grown as a player due to my tendency to excel in everything I’ve done and will do. I am a multiple sport player that plays at the highest level of my sports. I have played travel basketball, park district basketball, street ball with my fellow neighborhood friends and of course my school team. Even as a young child, once I got on that basketball court I felt free to love the game, to win and to grow to become an accomplished player. My goal even now is not only to win but to lead the team to grow, and to have the same passion for the game – win or lose. I have the ability to play different positions effectively – defense or offense. Learn from my errors and to improve my not just my game but my work mentality. I also was an assistant coach for 3rd to 6th grade summer camps and 7th to 8th grade summer camps this summer.
I am a current straight A student in at Resurrection College Prep. I plan to pursue my education in the field of health sciences. Being part of a family of six, I love being a role model to my siblings. I know I am not the oldest but I have needed to shine for my younger sisters and my older brother who is autistic. My accomplishments can be a benchmark for my younger siblings.
I am looking to continue to grow as a basketball player in my remaining high school years and to be able to be the first in my family to play a college sport.
