My collegiate goals include playing basketball and excelling academically. Basketball has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember, and the game has taught me a lot about myself and life. My first experience was in second grade when my dad signed me up to play in an all boys house league. When I finished crying by the water fountain I stepped on the court and challenged the boys for three more years and realized that was the greatest decision I ever made. I discovered the excitement of being part of a team, my leadership qualities and confidence blossomed and I learned to manage my time efficiently to balance basketball and school. This confidence, motivation and hard work spilled over off the court and I have maintained a 3.6 GPA in High School.
My Freshman year I was captain of the Freshman A team and by mid season the varsity coach moved me to varsity. My first practice with varsity reminded me of the fear that second grade girl had crying by the water fountain. I once again stepped on the court with confidence and made the All Tournament Team at my first Varsity Tournament.
I am very passionate about the game of basketball and play year round. As a student of the game, I have attended many camps and skills sessions. I am a very tough player who is eager to learn and is very coachable. I understand that it is important to improve as a player but it is equally important to make your teammates better. I will never forget the sign that hangs above that water fountain “Good Players Make Themselves Better, Great Players Make Their Teammates Better” JKBB.
