Cleao Murray '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Cleao Murray from Ankeny, Iowa. I am 5’9" and I am a two year starter with my HS Team  (Ankeny Centennial, Ankeny, Iowa -Scott DeJong).  I play AAU basketball with All Iowa Attack in Ames, Iowa. (Coaches: Dickson Jensen, Morgan Mauro, Randy Mauro, Ryan Carpenter, Allen Jones). I am in 10th grade and am a two year starter on my high school varsity team.

Just to tell you a little bit about myself; I normally play shooting guard, but will fill in as a forward or small post from time to time-plus I can run the floor from the point guard position if needed. It frequently creates a competitive advantage for my team.  I have a very disciplined work ethic and am typically on the basketball court 5/6 days per week year round with team practices, strength training, individual coach workouts or a personal workouts. Most days I’m on the court a minimum of 2 hours. I prioritize my academics-I am an AP student, on the honor role & am a National Honor Society inductee as a 10th grader.  My parents have instilled a work ethic whereby my academics are my priority with basketball a close second.  In addition to basketball; I have played competitive soccer & volleyball and still enjoy playing them recreationally.   

I plan to play college basketball, study biology-health sciences during undergrad and attend medical or dental school thereafter.   My academic strengths are writing, math and science.  I am an only child and have traveled extensively with my family for athletics and for vacations.  Geography is not a limiting factor in my decision making process for college-I am looking for a good coach who cares about his/her players who creates a family type environment and has a competitive program at a University or College that provides challenging academics.
