I recognized early that as a dyslexic I needed to concentrate on the areas where I shine: leadership. I've been lucky to attend schools that value that strength and have given me opportunities to step into those roles. In the 9th grade, I was recognized at Honor's Day with the Morgan Sisley Love of Life Award, which honored a 9th grade resident girl who demonstrated a zeal for life, a graciousness of spirit and a
generosity with laughter. I was fortunate enough to be honored again my junior year by receiving the Bo Satterfield Spirit of Life Award, which celebrates the accomplishments and characteristics of a young person whose life reflects the ideals of our society. At the end of my junior year, I interviewed for a head prefect role, a first in command position in the dorms and was selected.
My varsity basketball coaches also honored me my junior year with the Pillar Award, which acknowledges an essential player who possesses stability, brings energy and offers encouragement to others and is someone upon whom everyone can rely. I was invited to play varsity basketball my sophomore year, which is when I first thought about playing in college. My junior year, I was invited to my first showcase in front of college coaches and my decision to pursue playing college basketball was cemented. This year, I was named team captain of the basketball team, a role I’ve loved stepping into.
I'm eager and interested in improving my game and continue to seek out every opportunity to further hone my skills. I played recreational ball with a team called the Rays, the summers of my sophomore and junior year. This past July was my first summer playing AAU for the Cagers out of Atlanta. This Spring I've joined Kentucky Ice and I'm excited to be on the circuit once again! I love traveling and playing in tournaments but competing against high level players is my favorite part.
I'm easy to get along with and supportive of my teammates. I know my role on the court and follow instruction to the best of my ability. I thrive in challenging environments and competition takes me to the next level. I would love the opportunity to play college ball!
