Growing up I have heard the phrase "you are a student athlete and that means you will always be a student before an athlete". That phrase has been with me ever since. I ensure that my academics are placed first to ensure that am afforded every opportunity available to me as an athlete. I want to be afforded the opportunity to attend to college to assist my community. As a child growing up with sometimes limited resources in the community I want to make sure the next generations to come are afforded more opportunity. I dream to one day start my own Basketball programs that are affordable for all families no matter the income. I have seen many times amongst my peer’s great talent, however, their families do not have the resources for trainers, AAU or support and their talent goes to waste. I know how hard my parent works to make sure that I have these opportunities even though I know it is a great sacrifice. This is why I ensure I make my academics my priority. I am a team player and leader I've always been known as the one lifting others up and motivating my teammates. My coaches even call me the energizer bunny. I am also know to be a leader academically as well, If I know that one of my team mates is having issues academically I try to step to the plate to assist them , the same within practices and games. if one of my teams mates is down or having a bad game I try to motivate them as much as possible and if need be go over the steps with them to ensure all of our success. I have been taught and have learned that there is no I in Team, in order to win we must all be on the same page, and if others are not able to I am able to step in to assist where needed.
