Laken Chapin '20 Recruiting Profile

       My name is Laken Chapin, and basketball is a huge part of my life and it has been for a long time. Small town basketball is what I grew up playing, but where I’m from, the competition is always high since the rivalry goes beyond the court. After joining varsity my freshman year, I’ve been exposed to a lot of competition and I’ve grown immensely in two years, earning my team’s Defensive Player of the Year award, Highest Free-Throw % award, and have been an Honorable Mention All Conference all in my sophomore year. Defense is my favorite end of the floor because it is what decides games and it pushes every ounce out of a player to play outstanding defense. In the next two years, I hope to grow as a basketball player, student, and person because being a student athlete teaches me values that I use on and off the court. My education is very important to me as I hold myself accountable in the classroom and I have achieved a GPA of 4.09. Also, my faith is what I believe has helped me achieve every milestone in my life, and without it, I would not be where I am today. Any path that would allow me to be the best student, the best Christian, and the best athlete that I can be is my goal to follow.
