Hello!
My name is Ella Miller and I play on the East Lansing High School (East Lansing, Michigan) girls varsity basketball team. I’m a 6’1”, 160lb. center/power forward (Class of 2022) and I have started in the majority of our games. Last year, our team was ranked in the top 5 Class A teams in the State of Michigan. Sadly, as for so many other teams, our "dream season" was cut short and we missed the opportunity to achieve our goal of winning the state championship. We really had a great shot at it so it was heartbreaking. However, it also inspires me to work even harder for this season. We are currently ranked #2 in the state in the AP poll and I can't wait for the tournament to start next week!
I have played AAU basketball since 4th grade and currently play for Michigan’s Finest (Lansing, MI). My dad, a high school basketball coach for 20 years, was my AAU coach through 8th grade. He and I spend A LOT of time in the gym together, which I enjoy. While basketball is my passion, I also enjoy playing for my high school golf and tennis teams.
I currently have a 3.98 GPA and have taken several honors courses (math, science, English and history). When I’m not in the gym, I like to play golf and tennis, work on staying fit, and spend time with my family, friends and my cat, Luna. I also enjoy baking, movies, puzzles, word games, board games and being at the beach.
It is my goal to continue my basketball career at the college level with a successful team that truly enjoys spending time together. My high school teammates and I call each other "sisters", and I would love to feel as close to my college teammates as I do with my ELHS sisters. While I enjoy scoring and the challenge of taking the game-winning shot, I also take great pride in contributing to the success of my team with my defense, rebounding, assists and overall team play. I am currently leading my team in rebounds and assists, and I'm also the second leading scorer.
I believe that my GPA, positive attitude, strong work ethic, effective interpersonal skills and basketball IQ/skills will make me a valuable addition to your team. Thank you for taking the time to read about me and I am excited to learn more about your program!
Sincerely,
Ella Miller
