Sports are something that unite people all over the world, and basketball unites my family. I have been playing since I was eight years old. I would go to college basketball games with my dad when I was little, and I knew that I wanted to play collegiate level basketball.
Even though I love the sport, it has been a long road coming. I transferred schools for academic reasons this year because I got accepted into the International Baccalaureate Program at Farmington High School. Unfortunately in Michigan, you have to sit a whole year from whatever sports you played at your previous school. This caused me to sit out games this past season, my junior season. However, this experience has taught me how to overcome adversity and find the good in bad situations.
By watching my teammates play this year, it has helped me build a very strong basketball IQ. I also spent the time working very hard on my shot which has improved tremendously over my “break”. Even though I couldn’t play in games, I continued to push my teammates to work hard and perform to their best of their ability. I’m looking forward to continuing to lead my teammates to be better players and a team next season. MHSAA may have taken the jersey of my back this year but they didn't take the ball out of my hands. I am committed to being one of the top players in the league next year!
At school, I am in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. I work hard to maintain a high GPA. I am a part of the French Honor Society and the Honor Roll. I have been invited to join the National Honor Society and was selected a LINK Crew member for next year. In addition, I was on student council at my previous school.
My goal is to attend a college where I am challenged academically and on the basketball court. Ultimately, I want to find the college that is a perfect fit for me, and where I can become the best version of myself.
