Attending the state tournament as a freshman was the highlight of my basketball career. We were the underdog and not expected to win the Section Championship game. We played as a team and came away with the win. Although I did not play in that game, it was amazing to be part of such a wonderful, competitive experience. I knew at that moment that I wanted to experience that feeling again and help my team make it back to state in the future. As a sophomore, I had earned more playing time and had a more definite role on the court. In the Section Championship I did not get an opportunity to play despite my role earlier in the season. Our coach made the decision to only play 7 kids that game. I was bummed but I did not let it bring me down, instead I decided at that moment that I was going to do whatever it took to make sure I was on the court in all future games. I realized I needed to focus my efforts on further improving my skills so that the coaches had no reason not to play me. I decided to put in the time to becoming a solid guard capable of playing at the collegiate level.
I am lucky enough to be part of a strong basketball program with a long-standing history of success. I have learned the importance of hard work, commitment, teamwork and competition as being part of this team. I am looking for a program that will be a good fit athletically and academically. I believe I have the talent to compete at the collegiate level. My character, work-ethic, discipline, energy and leadership skills will allow me to make an immediate impact on your program.
