When I was in third grade, I picked up a basketball for the first time. Instantly, I fell in love. My dad had always loved the game loved the game of basketball, so he wanted to involve me in the game. When I first started playing I was playing recreational basketball. I played on that team for about two years, I felt as if I needed a higher level of competition, so I decided to join the MYAS traveling team. I had to play up a grade level, but that was fine. I played with them for one season. Eventually, the high school freshman coach was interested in pulling me up to play on the freshman team and I was only in 6th grade! I was very excided to play. Sadly, they told me you can play as a 6th grader on a high school level team, but that didn't stop me from working out with them. Then 7th grade year came around and I couldn't believe I got to start on junior varsity and sit bench varsity. I won an academic award that season for having a 3.6 GPA or higher. The following season I started varsity as just an 8th grader! The season was very challenging, plenty of bumps in the road. That season I won the coaches award, the definition of this award was basically: hardest working, reliable , consistent, never giving up, and a good teammate. Also, I got another academic award and a varsity letter. After this season I changed schools, I wanted to play with some of my teammates from AAU, along with the coaching at Como Park. My journey has just started at a very young age, and its certainly not even close to being over with. Four more years of varsity basketball left, I still have time to make my point and that is to be the greatest.
