Motivation and hard work is what drives me. My goals on the court are team related. I don't need to be the "go to" person on the team if I can get others involved in offense and defense. I have been a leader on every team I have participated in. It comes naturally to me and I love it! I have a great understanding for the game and enjoy talking and teaching while I am on the court or the bench. I don't struggle with teammates following my lead. They look to me for support and guidance when we are running defensive or offensive plays. I work well with anyone who is on the court.
My individual strengths are constantly growing and expanding as I get older. In my younger years, I was the only player to start shooting behind the 3 point line and see success. As I got older, I only became more consistent with my success behind the 3 point line. My height makes it easy for me to find open shots. My agility and speed allow me to get around defenders when they play too close on the shot. I can finish well at the hoop while drawing contact. I am able to post up and use my footwork against similar size girls or taller players. I am very flexible with the positions I play and my coaches have counted on me to play post and point guard through the years. I can control the basketball well and am able to find open players cutting to the rim.
I am not satisfied with where I am at right now. My goal is to be the best player I can be and let the rest figure itself out. I have been told that I need to turn my energy down. I don't see it as an issue but I tend to be very competitive and it sometimes comes out wrong to people that are not on my same level of competitiveness. I have worked through this and feel I am getting better at understanding how to approach my teammates on and off the court with suggestions or ideas.
I live and breathe basketball. I enjoy the energy that comes from playing competitively and I enjoy the opportunity to learn and develop as a player and teammate.
