After nearly a decade in competitive swimming, I have some remarkable skills that translated nicely to basketball, including 1) the ability to wake up and function at 4:30 a.m., 2) no misconceptions about the commitment needed to train competitively, and 3) insane levels of overall athleticism. First and foremost, though, I understand leadership. Everyone on the court must function as a unit, but that unit needs guidance from a confident head. I strive to lead in a direction others would be proud to follow in all that I do, regardless of my own personal enjoyment. This includes academics, where I have always had a passion for science and history (and, more recently, learned to love math). When not schooling my brothers on the court, I enjoy reading, gardening, gutting combines, butchering deer, stargazing, and drumming.
