My name is Anna Heyen. I started playing basketball at a very young age and fell in love with the sport. I have played on an organized basketball team since third grade, and in 7th grade started playing club basketball. My club basketball team, Cornhusker Shooting Stars out of Lincoln, Nebraska practices 2-3 times a week for 3 hours with tournaments around the midwest. This program is very intense, which provides me with a great environment to become a better basketball player. By playing basketball, I have learned that I can persist through hard workouts and tough situations much longer than I ever thought possible. I have also learned to deal with adversity in the proper way, and to overcome it. Basketball has made me a better person by teaching me how to be a team player and how to come into every practice with a coachable attitude. In high school, I would like to graduate with a 3.8 GPA or higher and receive a 28 or higher on my ACT. In college, I would like to maintain a 4.0 GPA which will help me get into medical school. I have worked very hard to get where I am today in my basketball career, and I will continue to do so until I am at the place where I want to be. My parents are very supportive and continue to push me to be the best that I can be. I love that I am able to spend every day playing basketball.
