I started getting into basketball in fifth grade, but didn’t actually start playing until I was in middle school. My sixth grade year I was only one of three sixth graders to make the team, that same year we went undefeated and won the championship. I learned a lot from those older girls who lead the team. The next year I was a big part of the team success, but we ended up losing in the semi-finals, I learned a lot that year as my game was evolving. I started playing club the summer of eight grade year and that year the coaches pushed me to be the best, and was when my game became great. I then went on the be a starting freshman on varsity. This made me confident in my game and able to keep evolving at a high level.
When I first started playing I was not very tall, so I trained like a guard and was able to get the experience on how to get around taller players, I had a huge growth spurt and am now tall and lengthy with the abilities of a guard. Also my family did not know much about basketball, and everything I did was because I loved the sport. Nobody was forcing me to play basketball, basketball is the sport that I chose and dedicated myself to. I have learned many things throughout all these years, like time management and responsibility. Without basketball in my life there would have been so many experiences and knowledge that I would not have with me today.
