I fell in love with the game of basketball in second grade. When my feet hit the court, I knew right away that I wanted to play at the collegiate level. Since that moment, I have worked year-round on my basketball skills. I have a natural competitive drive that can be seen on and off the court. I have competed in many sports such as soccer, cross-country, volleyball, and track and field. Having this experience has given me an opportunity to learn various skills that have improved my skills with the ball. I am determined and will work as hard as I need to in order to reach my dreams of playing on a college team. However, not only to reach this goal but to excel.
Through my years in North East Ohio Youth Christian Leadership, I have learned how to become a leader. During this time, I was able to learn how to be a better and stronger communicator. I have been able to use these skills on the court to support the team and plays. I am a little shy at first but I get comfortable quickly. My personality of being a very goal-oriented person has lent itself to creating a successful path for me. I have a Christian Faith foundation that gives me support and strength in my life.
My academic success is because I understood at an early age that academics go hand-in-hand with success in sports. To accomplish my ultimate goal of college-level playing, I have dedicated most of my time to basketball and academics. I am an honor student with a 3.8 GPA average and play sports year-round. I really never have an offseason as seasons run back-to-back and sometimes overlap. I have used my summertime to work on my basketball skills while participating in various local shoot-outs with my high school team. During that time, I am also training for cross-country which helps my endurance on the court. After basketball season I begin my track and field season which also keeps me in shape for basketball. My main focus is basketball and of course my academics. My ability to balance my success on and off the court shows my ability to be focused.
I am a mentally focused and determined person and constantly try to improve some aspects of my game. I use the opportunity to view game-film on hudl to analyze the game from various angles. I have gained a lot of knowledge regarding the game as I have played for 10 years. It is my third year starting Varsity and I feel I bring basketball IQ, responsibility, experience, and passion to my team.
My coaches and teammates can count on my competitive nature along with my focus. In intense moments I become extra calm and focused on what needs to be done. My defense is my biggest strength and I like to control the lane. My ability to see the floor allows me to move the ball effectively and efficiently. I am dependable on the court to utilize players as a strong team, working together toward one goal. My teammates and coaches can count on me to do my part in the classroom and on the court each and every time.
My family is my biggest support and fans. They have supported me in my various sports, always pushing me to do my best. My older siblings challenge me in sports as they have all participated at the high school level. My younger sibling, nieces, and nephews have challenged me to be a great role model. I am a twin and that has probably contributed to my competitiveness. Because of my large family, I have had to learn how to work together to get things done. I could not have gotten this far without all of my family and their love for me.
