I grew up playing basketball in our driveway with my twin, Emma. At the age of 5, we joined a basketball team consisting of all boys and began to better understand the basics of basketball through the skills and drills we learned in practices and games. I have continued to grow my game and play on travel teams, school teams, and AAU teams. I have also helped coach skills and drills to younger kids during summer camps. I provided online instruction for basic basketball skills to several kids ages 1-3rd grade during Covid-19.
I am currently a rising senior point guard/shooting guard for the Olentangy Orange High School basketball team. As a team captain for my first three seasons, I utilized my leadership skills and competitive nature to empower and encourage other players to be their best; while also working to earn the respect of the upperclassman who I had looked up to in years past.
Unfortunately, I was not able to play my junior season due to an injury, but that did not stop me from being a leader. My main areas of focus throughout this past season were on physical therapy and helping my team be successful. I helped my team in practice whether it was during drills or giving them speeches about leadership and accountability. During games, I created some bench celebrations with my teammates to bring more energy to the team and I also led halftime talks before my coaches came into the locker room. As I progressed with my recovery, I would shoot and dribble at practice and any other time I could get into a gym. As of April 7th 2022, I have been cleared to return to full basketball activities. I am beyond excited to get back to playing the game I love.
I look to continue achieving success on and off the basketball court and growing as a person and a player for my last year of high school. I continue to train in the off-season by playing for an AAU team and also attending strength, agility, and endurance training with a personal trainer.
I am seeking to play basketball at the collegiate level. I would like to pursue an undergraduate degree in either Neuroscience (studying brain trauma of athletes) or Journalism with a specific interest in Sports Broadcasting.
