My name is Mercedes Hobbs and no, I am not named after the car. I have been playing basketball since I was 4 years old and receiving a scholarship to play the game that I love would be the completion of a milestone. I'm usually not the first one in the gym, but the majority of the time I am the last one to leave. I am willing to do whatever it takes to get myself to the next level. At the end of my first 2 years of high school, I am on honor roll and maintaining a 4.103 GPA. Out of 340 students in my class, I am ranked 29th. I work extremely hard in the classroom not only to get good grades, but actually remember what I learn, not memorize. When I step on the court, I work even harder to the point where I try to out work everyone. In the words of my trainer, Coach Bob Nance, hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.
