Personal Statement

Sports have always played a key roll in my life. Ever since I can remember I've always been enrolled in some kind of activity to keep me moving. I've been a part of soccer, gymnastics, softball, cross-country, golf, archery, volleyball, and basketball. Obviously I've dropped and gained sports as I've gotten older. Currently I play volleyball in the fall, basketball in the winter and spring, and I condition and do archery in the summer. All of these sports have formed me into the well rounded athlete I am today. Not only have they influenced who I am as a teammate, but they have also contributed to who I am as a student. Through sports I have learned how to make friends, work well with others, learned how to communicate effectively, and much more. Not only have sports contributed to my personality, but they have also influenced my interests and hobbies.

Towards the end of my seventh grade year I tore my ACL during a Jr high school basketball game. When I got the surgery, we found out I also had two tears in my meniscus. The torn ACL has only made me push myself to become stronger to help prevent any future injuries and become a better athlete.

I hope to graduate in the top of my class in high school. My goal is to take the most challenging courses available to me so I can learn as much as possible. I also plan on taking AP courses and taking advantage of the dual enrollment my school offers. I’m a member of the Interact Club, National Honors Society, and Student Council at my school. These clubs have taught me how to put others before myself. They have all made volunteering a fun activity for me. In college I hope to do something math or science related. I was thinking about doing something along the lines of an physical therapist, biochemist, or something in the pharmaceutical science related field.

As I continue my courses and electives throughout high school, I hope to learn more about what college and career choices are available and interest me. When considering what type of college I’d be interested in, I'm not too picky. I'm open to any division anywhere in the country. My only requirement would be they'd have to offer a program that would work well with the major I choose and offer me the best learning experience.

There are many parts of my personality that help make me a good teammate and player. I'm easy to get along with, and have always fit in to any team I've played on. Also, I'm always willing to help someone out, especially a teammate. When it comes to who I am as a player, I'm very coachable. As a coach makes a correction to someone, I make an effort to listen and try to apply that correction to what I'm doing. If a coach tells me that I'm doing something wrong, I do not get upset or offended, I just try my best to apply what they have told me. I also continue staying in shape and making myself stronger during the off season. I'm always pushing myself to be a better player, which includes working on ball handling and shooting.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
