My mother first got me interested in basketball when I was seven, she played in college. When I started playing basketball I never knew I would love the sport as much as I do now. Through playing this sport I have come to learn a lot about myself, one example is that I learned how to be more encouraging and self- confident. One thing that has influenced who I am as a person are my family relationships. I am extremely close with the majority of my family and if we weren't as close I don't think I would be the person I am today. Some Unique characteristics I have are my kindness, reliability, productiveness, and my generosity. I have had to overcome some obstacles in my life, one example is my height. Some of my coaches in the past have judged me based on my outer appearance and not my skill. Instead of quitting when i was treated poorly, I simply showed them that I was a valuable asset to the team because of my skill rather than my height. My academic goals for high school are; to finish with a high GPA and to take mainly honors or A.P classes. In college I want to take classes that will help me progress as a student, and I want to have a high GPA as well. I feel that I would be a good candidate for your team because I am very hardworking, and I never quit or back down from anything. I would also be very dedicated to the team and my teammates. I feel like I would be a valuable asset to your team based on my ball handling and shooting abilities. When I am not playing basketball I like to volunteer at animal shelters and nursing homes, this also makes me different from other recruits.
