My whole childhood life I tried sports Baseball,Cheerleading, and Track.I was somewhat good at those sports my siblings all played sports and I kinda struggled with succeeding in those sports.Everyone looked at me different for some reason and they even left me out of certain things. As a little kid I didn't know why.I used to be in a dance club at a local recreation center I was so passionate about it.Then that's when everything changed and I started to realise why people used to look at me different.I have Erb Palsy on my right side of my arm.I was cut from the team because of my disability.I didn't let the cut get to me I just did something new and that's when basketball came along.I could've gave up and never did a sport again but that's not my style. So I tried basketball and the first year was okay I was 6 years old playing with 13 and 14 years old. The girls on my team adored me and they always questioned my disability but in a good way.As the years went by my basketball IQ changed I developed quick.
My coaches would always talk so highly of me when I was on the court some people wondered how I play with one arm and dribble so well and they always said I have killer passes. One year I was honored in my city of Providence for outstanding achievements. That year I realised I was more than a basketball player young kids who had disabilities looked up to me they would count on me as being there role model.
I think other basketball players out there should value of having two arms or two legs to play the game when people complain of how they can't do certain drills or used the other hand to dribble I laugh because I used one arm to dribble but I try to use both.It just amazes me how I could do it better without complaining.
In school i'm liked a lot elementary school to middle school my teachers loved me they still do now in high school I do lack of certain subjects like math I love reading though.
My goal is to play for a Division 1 school that's probably every basketball players goal but I'll make sure I would do my best off the court and on and staying maintain of achieving that goal.
I like to compete in everything i'm always up for a task with my teammates I like to make them better players and always look at the bright side of things I'm a team player for sure.I love playing defense I feel like that's a big part of my game steals also.
What makes me better then other recruiters my mentality of the game due to my disability I only can use one arm but I like to mix it up and not have my disability take over the way I play.I'm all around my defense really is a big impact.Other recruiters may I only just be all about offense. But like I said I like to mix things up.
I hope this personal statement told you about me went well!
