Who is Donye Dailey? Well, I am one of the most committed, hardest working, and coachable athletes you will ever meet. My athletic journey began playing tackle football and being MVP of my league in the 6th grade. After 2 years of football, I tried lacrosse. As much I wanted to play basketball entering high school, I had an obligation to fulfill with my mother (commitment). She allowed me to play tackle football, but I had to run one year of track. Even though I liked track, I really wanted to try basketball. I worked hard all summer long to try out for my basketball team and not only did I make the team my sophomore year, I was the MVP of my team averaging 12 ppg. My high school and AAU coaches are very tough on me because my learning has to be expedited, but I am so grateful that they see so much potential in me and care for me (coachable).
My academic grades is a reflection of how my life is. I am so determined to make the highest grades while taking challenging courses (hard work). Life has dealt me some challenges, but I have been able to overcome them with my relationship with God, my parents, and my closest friends. My parents have taught me to never let an opportunity pass me by. I have always wanted to major in Sports Medicine and this was before playing basketball. My mind was focused on academics which is why I always strive for greatness. However, playing basketball has helped me realize that there are more doors that can be open in my life.
If there is one thing I have learned in basketball it is this: the amount of work you put in will determine what you can produce. Whether I am the superstar of your team or the 12th man, one thing you can count on me to do is be the biggest motivator on the team. By taking a look at me, you will see that not only to I have the talent to compete, but my character, unselfishness, and leadership skills will make an impact in your college program and on campus as a student.
