I have been playing basketball since the 7th grade. I was first introduced to basketball when I moved to Spokane, Washington, and I have loved it ever since. My passion for basketball continuously grows and so does my IQ. I also can say that being a part of a team has helped develop the motivation as well as the determination to push myself both on the court and in school. Academically, I have struggles here and there, but basketball has taught me lessons which helped me overcome the challenges. Having positive coaches that challenges and pushes players to their limits or recognizing the potential players have has certainly opened up my eyes of how to take care of life off the court as well. I have definitely had a lot of growth during my basketball journey. Before I joined my first AAU team, my IQ for basketball was zero. I didn't even know how to do a lay-up. Compared to now, not only has my IQ of the game has grown, but I believe that my biggest asset is being able to score at the block while girls are doubling on me. I have learned how to use my body, my height, and my strength to assist my teammates which is important to me. This is all about being a part of the team. Being able to grow not only individually but as a team gives me a sense of pride to belong in a team that strives to be the best we can be. Their success is my success. My life has revolved around basketball and the love I’ve developed for this game has brought many great aspects out of me as a person. One of those aspects is the ability to lead when needed. There are many things I could list about the things basketball has done for me. But these are some of the few reasons to describe my love for basketball and the desire to take it to the next level.
