A Journey from a Rural Court to College Dreams
I'm from a rural town in Washington state where my entire sophomore class has 70 students. Our Central 2B high school basketball team consists of 10 players and as a Junior I’ll be the most experienced player next season. Coming from a rural town with limited basketball engagement didn't limit my dreams; it expanded them. It taught me to be innovative, self-motivated, and determined to find basketball opportunities outside of my rural area.
I tried out and was accepted to area AAU teams, but I found the perfect fit with my Hoopstars Family team who follows the NCAA tournament circuit each summer and I’m proud to be with them for my 3rd season. With these coaches I’ve focused on footwork, finishing moves and building my confidence.
What do I bring to the court? I've been described by others as highly coachable, a great teammate with a positive mindset, and I embody the spirit of 'never quit.' I feel my greatest strengths are my ability to play all aspects of the game, high basketball IQ and natural leadership abilities. I know how each of my teammates respond to various game situations and I can motivate or calm them in a way that fits each individual personality. When I’m on the court, my team plays for each other!
My academic achievements mirror my athletic dedication and I plan to pursue a post-graduate education. My future aspirations blend my passion for basketball with academic excellence at a college that celebrates both. While I’d like to stay on the west coast, my heart is set on finding the right fit and I’m willing to explore 4-year colleges that vary by location and size.
Thank you for considering my journey!
