Over the years I have played a various number of sports, but basketball has always stood out to me. It has been a passion of mine ever since I can remember. My family, friends, and coaches have been very influential throughout my journey. They are a huge part of who I am and what inspires me to be the best I can be on and off the court.
I have been playing basketball since the 3rd grade, and from the beginning I have strived to be the kind of player that can be an asset to my team. I was very fortunate to have my dad coach me for several years. He helped me become an all-around team player. (He played college basketball, as well as my grandfather.)
I’ve also been very fortunate to start my High School career at the Varsity level as a freshman. The past two years, I have taken on more responsibilities. I am currently the starting point guard for Deforest High School as a junior, and look forward to taking my skills to the next level my senior year and in college. Some of my best attributes are unselfishness, control, shot selection, defense and the ability to shoot from the outside. I can handle pressure off the dribble and always look to make the right decision. I’ve been playing AAU Basketball for 5 years and will be playing my last summer with Wisconsin Elite out of Deforest. I’ve concentrated on Mike Lee’s Point Guard camps to help develop my skills at that position. I examine all my game films to see how I can work on my mistakes and learn from others successes. I also watch NCAA and NBA games to see how the elite players react to certain situations.
Playing basketball has helped me in many ways. Socially, with the family atmosphere and locker room fun with friends and teammates. Strength, in working through difficult situations. And courage, to go beyond what even I thought I was capable of. These qualities are ones that I will use throughout my life.
I have been very successful scholastically, with high honors each semester. I am looking forward to graduating at the top of my class and continuing my education in the field of Kinesiology. My main focus is sports medicine and teaching. Along with my education, I would like to continue my basketball career at the college level.
