My sophomore year of basketball was a lot of fun mixed with a lot of hard work. Our basketball team made it to Wisconsin State Playoffs!! That was an amazing experience. It's been 11 years since Freedom Girls basketball made it to State!! As a team we really came together during our season. Going to State with the basketball team was a tremendous experience. Our motto of WE > ME was truly our success!!!!! It really brought us closer together as a team. Our school and community stood behind us during our trip to State. We lost in the first round of playoffs to a really good team. I feel that I grew as an individual player and a team player. I've always been a standout point guard, however, this year I've mature as a player which has resulted in my league leading stats and confidence to play fast and show case the gift and opportunity I've been blessed with to play this game. I made 2nd Team All Conference and voted Freedom's Defensive Most Valuable Player.
I have had an amazing sophomore year!! I've had the opportunity to compete at the STATE level in Cross Country, Basketball and Track. My track season was an incredible learning and growing season. My coaches gave me many opportunities to try different events to figure out my strengths. Running on a relay team is a lot of fun. In the 4 x 2 team, I ran as runner #2!! We have the school record at 1:46.00, which we ran during the State meet. In the 4 x 4, I ran as runner #4!! We have the school record at 4:01.27, which we ran during the State meet!! In the 300 Hurdles, I ran a 44.73, during the State meet!! That was a mind blowing Personal record for me. I also long jumped at the State meet, but just couldn't hit the board right. During the State meet I learned a lot about mental stress and how to over come my nerves. There is a mental aspect in every sport to over come. I'm looking forward to my Junior year. There are so many possibilities in front of me.
Winning the Wisconsin State Cross Country Team Championship as a Freshman and Runner Up as a Sophomore been truly an amazing start to my high school career. I plan on running XC a four years!
Over the last few years, I've also had the opportunity to watch my older brother play football at the U of M - Duluth (DE) & older sister run track for U of M - Twin Cities. Their passion to play with no fear and enjoy the rewards of the team success on & off the field has been inspiring to say the least. All of these experiences have helped me grow as a person and lead me to refocus my own efforts to be a standout point guard any college would be proud and excited to have on the team.
I was fortunate enough to be part of an amazing State Champion Cross Country team, a very competitive basketball teams & an amazing Track team. I learned the value of teamwork, hard work, pre-game dedication and benefits of weight training. I'm looking for a program that needs a strong, competitive, team player, who wants everyone on the team to be a successful student -athlete and as well as develop life time memories and friendships.
It would be an honor to play basketball at the college level and would be so grateful if given the opportunity to represent your University.
