Sophia Myers '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Sophia Myers, I am a student at Sandra Day O’Connor, part of the 2022 graduating class. I currently play beach volleyball for Stealth Beach Volleyball club in Phoenix, Arizona. At O’Connor HS, I have played Varsity both years and was undefeated as the #4 team this season as a Sophomore, before the season ended prematurely. Our school was also undefeated and targeting a State Championship.

I believe that I would be a great addition to your program as I am the type of player who has high energy, coachable, and a positive attitude both on and off the court. I consider myself to be a determined player who trains 4 to 5 days a week, along with conditioning to develop and strengthen my body and skills. I not only train for the game from a physical aspect but I have been working with a Mental Performance Coach, as it is equally important to be a mentally strong and confident player.

Since competing solely in beach, I have accomplished quite a bit. I gained the title of #1 national ranking for AVP Grand Prix points for 16U Girls (current day). Won bids in both 16U and 18U for BVNE events, as well as 16U for AVP Nationals, East and West Coast. I have competed in the various other organizations such as AAU, P1440 etc., finishing within the top 3. I like competing in the AVP QOB tournaments as it allows me to compete with multiple partners and helps me to develop my communication and leadership skills.

The ability to participate in an activity that allows you to be part of something greater than yourself, representing a respected educational institution, would be a humbling yet rewarding experience. The team environment allows me to forge lifelong friendships, develop leadership and communication skills while developing additional skill sets that will be of benefit for a lifetime. Acceptance to your institution and athletic program would complement my established record of leadership abilities, scholastic excellence, ongoing community development and improvement through my endeavors as a scholar and a student athlete.
