Hi, my name is Taryn Brown and this is now my sixth year playing indoor volleyball and I started beach last summer of 2023. I first started my sports journey with gymnastics at the age of 4 and continued in gymnastics for 7 years and 3 of those years were competitive. I then moved on to soccer which I had been playing at the same time as gymnastics then stopped when I started to do volleyball. I did club soccer and club volleyball at the same time for three years until high school where I stopped soccer to focus on volleyball. It was hard letting go of a sport I had known since I was little but I knew what my real passion was and both time commitments of 2 club sports and the academics of high school would only lead to failure. During my freshman year, I played varsity volleyball and also played varsity soccer after the high school volleyball season while also playing club season. I then did track in the spring season of high school sports where I got MVP of my track team Freshman year while still doing club volleyball. I was also in all honors classes and this all taught me how to efficiently get my work done and manage time very usefully when I had it. The next year I sadly did not play soccer in my second year of high school because I was also doing club beach volleyball along with indoor club volleyball. I chose to take a deep dive into the sport I love while also prioritizing academics. Right when I started beach volleyball I'm not gonna lie I felt like a deer on ice skates, but now that I have had more experience I cannot express my passion and love for it. I grew up on the beach already with my dad being a surfer and his constant surf meets, and both my parents being swim reps for multiple swimwear companies. I also love indoor but I now know where my future lies in college and that is in beach volleyball. I am now in 4 AP classes in my junior year and I still believe I can pull it off. I have learned to not procrastinate and have a good work ethic because that is what I am willing to do for the sport I love while also managing my top priority, my love for Christ. I have been a Christian all my life and have gone to Santa Fe Christian, a private Christian school, for almost 12 years now. Whenever I am stressed about all my commitments I can just go and give my worries to God. I also like to think of playing volleyball as a way of praising God and this helps me not get in my head when playing because I know it is all for Him. Thank you so much for viewing my profile!
