In 6th grade I was inspired by a girl diving off of the 10m platform, and have been diving ever since. I love diving because it requires strength, skill, and grace. One thing that makes me unique is that I’m very goal oriented, focused and dedicated. I will continue to work hard to meet the goals I’ve set for myself, whether it is achieving above a 4.0, finishing in the top 10 at the CIF Central Section Championships or becoming the new School Record Holder on 1m. Whatever I set my mind to, I go after it.
Playing different team sports has taught me how to work with my teammates and my coaches. I have had five coaches in five years diving at the intermediate school and high school level, so I have learned to adapt to different coaching styles and team dynamics. I am a good teammate because I listen and do what is asked of me, while also having a smile on my face. I really want to opportunity to compete at the college level so I can develop and grow as a Diver. I am super competitive, very goal oriented and I work hard.
I just finished my Junior year, taking four AP Classes and I excelled both in the classroom and in Diving. I became the new school record holder as a Junior and pushed my weighted GPA upwards of a 4.3. In addition to my school schedule, I was diving four days a week (which includes one session of trampoline/dry land training) and working part-time. Last Summer I worked hard to develop my 3m and Platform list so I could compete, and was happy with the progress I made in such a short amount of time. Next year I am scheduled to take three AP Classes and will continue diving Club in the Fall to be ready for the Spring season.
I am looking for a college where I can find the right balance between diving and academics. A university with an excellent academic reputation is important to me as I pursue a profession where I could use my academic strengths and passion to serve others. I want to be challenged academically and personally so I can grow as an individual, and make a positive contribution to society.
