Hi, my name is Layne Andersen. I have been diving for about six years. Gymnastics was my passion for eleven years but because of a back injury, I needed to find a new sport. Diving was an easy transition and quickly became a love of mine. I really enjoy practicing and constantly strive for perfection in each dive. I have qualified for State both my sophomore and junior years. Studying hard and achieving good grades are just as important in my high school years. I am adventurous and get that quality from growing up in a military family. My dad retired after 27 years in the Army. Some were very difficult with him being deployed but overall I would say the different experiences have enriched my life. Living all around the country has giving me a great opportunity to explore and see so much. I don’t worry about attending college far from home or in any state. Besides diving, I have lettered in volleyball and track. I also played tennis my freshman year. These other sports have helped me in my journey in diving because they make me stronger, faster, and contribute to my mental toughness. Diving in college is my goal ever since I started the sport and I am determined to find the perfect school for diving as well as strong academics.
