I started diving at 11 years old, prior to that I was a competitive gymnast (competing and medaling at Provincial level). I have a great relationship with my coaches and teammates who I consider as my second family. I love to cheer my own teammates, but over the years, I have also built up a great relationship with many of my competitor divers from other clubs and am just as happy to cheer them on.
Some of most memorable meets are when I competed at BC winter games (medaling in all 3 events, 1m, 3m and synchro) and the 2019 Canadian Novice Nationals where I medaled in 3m and platform, and where I was also awarded the "Top Female Athlete" award. At the end of 2019 I worked hard to get my DPC list to enable me to compete at provincial level, and almost qualified (within 5 points) for the junior elite national competition on platform.
I have a strong work ethic and am always the first in the gym / pool and the last to leave. I have completed my learn-to-dive Coaching certificate and spent last summer coaching which was really fun. Unfortunately, COVID meant that I was not able to coach this summer and I ended up working in the local campground instead.
During the COVID-19 pandemic all of the pools were closed down and diving training in the pool came to an abrupt halt. However, with the support of my coach and teammates, we were still able to continue dry land training and physical conditioning at home, the gym, and the outdoor track. Now that some pools are slowly starting to open up, I am super excited to get back onto the diving boards. After 6 months, some of my dives are a bit rusty but I am working hard to get back to the level that I was at in February before everything shut down.
While diving is my main focus, I do try to keep a balanced life. I am an accomplished pianist - Grade 8 - (who doesn't practice enough because I always seem to be at the pool), I attend church regularly and am part of the youth group. Away from the pool, I love being in the snow and snowboarding is my winter go-to activity.
While my eventual career goal is to become a pilot, I would like to attend university to broaden my academic qualifications, make new friends and to continue with my diving. I take pride on my grades at school and see academics as just another part of me. I hope to find the right school that will allow me to further my diving and at the same time set me up for a career in the aviation industry.
