Hi, My name is Olivia Serpa. I just completed my Freshman year at Scottsdale Community College in Arizona. While taking pre-requisite classes for a future in healthcare/nursing, I played on my school’s golf team, continuing my passion for golf that I have enjoyed from the time I was in middle school, through high school and junior golf. Before our season was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic, I was the first place finisher in every junior college tournament in my division and was well on my way to a successful season, with a tournament average of 77.25 at an average yardage of 5,958.
I was recently notified by my coach that the 2020-2021 season will also be canceled, which is a major disappointment to me. My plan had been to continue playing at the community college level through next season, with the goal of continuing both my educational and golfing careers at a four-year university in my junior year.
I will graduate from Scottsdale Community College in December 2020 with double Associate degrees; an Associate of Arts in General Studies, and an Associate of Science (fulfilling all pre-requisites for an eventual nursing/healthcare degree program).
I am in my happiest place when I am playing golf. The peace, the confidence, the determination, the grace, the will to succeed. I am made up of all of these things when I’m playing the game I love so much. Golf makes me a well-rounded person. I am now looking at my best options for my next college opportunity, one that includes golf.
Thank you for taking the time to review my profile.
