Hey there! My name is Madelyn Stokes and I am going into my senior year at Buchanan High School in Clovis, California. I have been working diligently at improving my game and am excited to be now looking for a college to play for. Recently my swing and scores have been improving and I have been traveling for various AJGA and FCG tournaments. My long history of competitive dance and cheer keeps me cool under pressure and continuously scoring well. Although dance and cheer taught me various skills to be able to perform my best, the switch I made from dancing to focusing 100% on golf the summer of my Sophomore year left me without the level of experience that my fellow competitors have had with golf since they were young. This hasn’t discouraged me in any way and I have come a long way since then. Some of my first tournaments I played, apart of the JGANC and VCANC, I was scoring in the 100-110 range. This was only around two years ago and I worked very hard to improve. Now I am continuously breaking 80 and getting my scores down to an average of 76. My swing coach, Cindy Vining, has always told me that as well as staying cool under pressure, I have a lot of distance. I have a powerful swing and an even more powerful drive to succeed. As well as being captain of my high school team. I work alongside and am a part of The First Tee Organization, focusing mostly on the Fresno Chapter. I have been a part of The First Tee since I was 6 and have now continued on through the program and am now junior coaching. With saying that, I will also be playing in the 2022 PURE Insurance Pro AM from September 20-25 at Pebble Beach Golf Links. I was selected from a large number of applicants because of my work ethic and personal growth. I am a firm believer in the saying that “you can always improve” and have been known to be a strong leader. Because of this I think I would make a great asset to your team and look forward to improving even more. Thank you for your time and I can’t wait to hear from you.
